In this article, we will delve into Pyke's story, his strengths and weaknesses, his background in the game, and his place in the League of Legends universe.
The Story of Pyke
Pyke's tale begins in the dark and treacherous waters of Bilgewater, a notorious port city known for its lawlessness and cutthroat nature. Once a humble fisherman named Pyke, he met a gruesome fate at the hands of his crewmates who betrayed him, leaving him to drown in the depths of the ocean. However, instead of finding peace in death, Pyke was granted a twisted form of immortality by the vengeful spirit of the deep sea.
Now reborn as a revenant, Pyke seeks revenge on those who wronged him, lurking in the shadows and striking fear into the hearts of his enemies. He prowls the streets of Bilgewater, hunting down his former crewmates one by one, leaving a trail of blood and terror in his wake. Pyke's haunting presence and relentless pursuit make him a truly fearsome champion to face on the Rift.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Pyke's unique skill set allows him to excel in certain areas while also presenting some weaknesses that players must be mindful of. Understanding his strengths and weaknesses is crucial for both playing as Pyke and playing against him.
One of Pyke's greatest strengths lies in his ability to quickly eliminate squishy targets. His Q ability, Bone Skewer, allows him to hook enemies and pull them towards him, setting up opportunities for his team to secure kills. Additionally, his E ability, Phantom Undertow, allows him to dash through enemies, stunning them and creating openings for his team to engage. Pyke's ultimate ability, Death from Below, is a powerful execute that deals massive damage to enemies below a certain health threshold, making him a formidable assassin.
Furthermore, Pyke possesses a unique passive ability called Gift of the Drowned Ones. This ability grants him bonus health regeneration based on his missing health, allowing him to sustain in fights and stay on the battlefield longer. This passive, combined with his high mobility and crowd control, makes Pyke a formidable force in team fights and skirmishes.
However, Pyke does have weaknesses that can be exploited by skilled opponents. One of his main weaknesses is his squishiness. Pyke has low base health and armor, making him vulnerable to burst damage and focused attacks. Additionally, his abilities have relatively high cooldowns, leaving him vulnerable during the downtime between casts. Pyke players must be cautious and strategic in their engagements, as mistimed abilities or poor positioning can quickly lead to their demise.

Lore:
A renowned harpooner from the slaughter docks of Bilgewater, Pyke should have met his death in the belly of a gigantic jaull-fish… and yet, he returned. Now, stalking the dank alleys and backways of his former hometown, he uses his new supernatural gifts to bring a swift and gruesome end to those who make their fortune by exploiting others—and a city that prides itself on hunting monsters now finds a monster hunting them.
Ally tips:
Pyke is very fragile so don't be afraid to temporarily run from a fight. You can regenerate a significant amount of health from Gift of the Drowned Ones when enemies can't see you. Hitting an enemy with the Hold version of Bone Skewer will always pull them the same distance. Use it in melee range to throw targets behind you. The Tap version of Bone Skewer is much faster and deals additional damage. A lot of your agressive spells are also your escapes. Make sure you always have a plan to get out of the fight.
Enemy tips:
Pyke regenerates a significant amount of damage he has taken from enemy champions, but only when you can't see him! When Pyke is hidden nearby in his Ghostwater Dive, sharks will circle underneath your feet.Try not to stand near low health allies. If Pyke executes them using Death From Below, you might be next on the list.
